Flash work with Luna

Photographing my St. Bernard, Luna, is always an adventure, but shooting at night adds a whole new layer of excitement. Using flash can be tricky, especially with pets, but with the right approach, it can create stunning results.

Luna’s thick, fluffy coat and soulful eyes are perfect for dramatic night shots. To avoid startling her, I introduced the flash gradually during our session. I used an off-camera flash to soften the light, reducing harsh shadows and avoiding the dreaded "glowing eyes" effect.

Positioning was key. I placed Luna slightly away from any reflective surfaces and adjusted the flash angle to create a more natural look. Her dark backdrop made her white fur pop beautifully, adding depth to the images.

The results? Captivating portraits of Luna framed by the night, her fur glowing softly under the controlled burst of light. Night photography with pets can be challenging, but with patience and the right techniques, it turns into a magical experience.
